Texas Kangaroo Rat- Endangered Species Series
Though technically considered “threatened,” the Texas Kangaroo Rat population has been steadily declining due to habitat loss. Texas Kangaroo Rats love to scurry in the underbrush of bush and mesquite plants, which have been cleared away with rapid urbanization.
Making this Piece
This piece is full of texture. The little fur highlights on the rat were made by scraping through gouache layers with a blade. The sandy ground was made by combining sand and glitter paper painted over with gesso and gouache.
